Cital Syrup contains disodium hydrogen citrate, a urinary alkalinising agent that increases urine pH, making it less acidic. This action helps relieve painful or burning urination associated with urinary tract infections and reduces the formation of uric acid crystals.
It is commonly used as supportive treatment in UTIs, prevention of certain kidney stones, gout, and metabolic acidosis. Cital may also be prescribed alongside certain antibiotics or sulphonamides to reduce the risk of crystal formation in the urinary tract.
It should be used under the guidance of a healthcare professional and taken with adequate fluids.
