How to use
This medicine is for external use only.
Shake well before use. Do not touch the dropper tip to any surface to prevent contamination.
Side Effects:
Adverse reactions identified from post-marketing surveillance include:
Increased intraocular pressure, eye pain, eye irritation, ocular discomfort, foreign body sensation in eyes, blurred vision, ocular hyperemia (redness), and increased lacrimation (tearing).
Gastrointestinal disorders: Dysgeusia (altered taste).
Precautions:
- Prolonged use can lead to increased intraocular pressure, damage to the optic nerve, reduced vision, visual field defects, and cataracts.
Routine intraocular pressure monitoring is important, especially in children and those with predispositions like diabetes. - Systemic side effects may occur with intensive or long-term use, particularly in children and patients taking certain medications (CYP3A4 inhibitors like ritonavir and cobicistat).
- Infections: Corticosteroids can reduce resistance to and mask signs of bacterial, fungal, or viral infections. Fungal infection should be suspected in persistent corneal ulcers while using these drops.
- May slow corneal wound healing. Concomitant use with topical NSAIDs can increase this potential.
- Perforations have occurred with topical corticosteroid use in eyes with thinning of the cornea or sclera.
- Contact lenses are discouraged during treatment. Flarex drops contain benzalkonium chloride, which can irritate eyes and discolor soft contact lenses. Remove contact lenses before application and wait at least 15 minutes before reinsertion.
- Temporary blurred vision may occur. Wait until vision clears before driving or operating machinery.
