Avodart 0.5mg Capsules contain dutasteride, which inhibits both type I and type II 5-alpha reductase enzymes responsible for converting testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Lowering DHT levels helps shrink an enlarged prostate, relieve urinary symptoms, and reduce the risk of acute urinary retention and the need for prostate surgery.
Treatment is intended for adult men with symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia. Clinical improvement may take several months of continuous therapy.
