Indications:
- Used in the treatment of prostate cancer, especially in patients with localized or locally advanced disease.
- May be given as monotherapy (on its own) or in combination with other treatments depending on the oncologist’s advice.
Administration:
- The usual dose is one tablet (150mg) once daily, swallowed whole with water.
- Can be taken with or without food, but should be taken at the same time each day.
- Treatment is often long-term, as prescribed by your oncologist.
Safety Information:
- Do not use if you are allergic to bicalutamide or any of the ingredients.
- Not suitable for women or children.
- Inform your doctor if you have liver disease, heart problems, diabetes, or are taking anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin).
- Common side effects: hot flushes, breast swelling or tenderness, reduced libido, tiredness, constipation, and nausea.
- Less common but serious side effects: liver dysfunction (yellowing of skin/eyes), shortness of breath, chest pain, or severe skin reactions.
- Routine blood tests (especially liver function tests) are required during treatment.
