Glentel CT 40mg Tablets combine telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), with chlorthalidone, a thiazide diuretic. Telmisartan relaxes blood vessels by blocking the effects of angiotensin II, while chlorthalidone helps lower blood pressure by increasing the removal of excess salt and water through the kidneys.
Combining two medicines with different mechanisms of action provides greater blood pressure reduction than either medicine used on its own in appropriate patients.
Long-term blood pressure control helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications such as stroke, heart attack, heart failure, and kidney disease.
