Lipitas 20mg Tablets contain atorvastatin, a lipid-lowering medicine from the statin class. Atorvastatin works by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, reducing cholesterol production in the liver. This lowers LDL (“bad”) cholesterol and triglycerides while helping increase HDL (“good”) cholesterol.
Lipitas is used as an adjunct to diet for the treatment of primary hypercholesterolaemia, mixed dyslipidaemia, and familial hypercholesterolaemia when lifestyle changes alone are insufficient. It is also used to reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events in patients at increased cardiovascular risk.
For best results, treatment should be combined with a heart-healthy diet, regular exercise, weight management, and smoking cessation where appropriate.
