Severe rheumatoid arthritis (when other treatments are ineffective)

Severe psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis

Crohn’s disease (off-label, specialist use)

How to take Methotrexate 2.5mg Tablets:
- Oral use only
- Dose varies depending on condition and patient weight/body surface area
- Typically taken once weekly, NOT daily, to reduce risk of toxicity (patients must follow their doctor’s instructions carefully)
- May be given with folic acid supplements to reduce side effects
- Requires ongoing blood tests to monitor safety
Safety Information:
- Contraindicated in pregnancy, breastfeeding, severe liver or kidney disease, and in patients with bone marrow suppression
- Common side effects: nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, mouth ulcers, fatigue, dizziness
- Serious risks: liver toxicity, bone marrow suppression, lung inflammation, kidney problems, severe infections
- Regular monitoring of blood counts, liver enzymes, and kidney function is essential
- Alcohol should be avoided as it increases the risk of liver damage
- Must not be confused with daily dosing – once-weekly administration is standard for autoimmune conditions
