Univir cream contains acyclovir 5% and is intended for topical treatment of localized herpes simplex infections. Acyclovir interferes with viral DNA replication.
Uses
- Herpes labialis (cold sores)
- Localized herpes simplex skin infections
- Initial and recurrent localized HSV infections
Active Ingredient
- Acyclovir 5% w/w
How to Use
- Apply a thin layer to affected skin as directed.
- Apply approximately five times daily at intervals of about four hours, omitting the night application, when following the standard acyclovir 5% regimen.
- Begin treatment as early as possible after symptoms appear.
- Wash hands before and after application.
Precautions
- For external skin use.
- Do not apply inside the mouth, eye or vagina.
- Avoid contact with the eyes.
- Do not use if allergic to acyclovir or valacyclovir.
- Seek medical advice if lesions are extensive, severe or do not improve.
