Active Ingredients
Each 5 mls contains:
- Calcium Carbonate (150 mg elemental calcium)
- Magnesium Hydroxide (25 mg elemental magnesium)
- Zinc Gluconate (2 mg elemental zinc)
- Vitamin D3 (200 IU)
Contraindications
Zedcal suspension is contraindicated in the following conditions;
- Hypercalcemia
- Nephrolithiasis/nephrocalcinosis
- Severe renal impairment.
Interactions
Inform your doctor if you are using the following drugs
- Thiazide diuretics: Risk of hypercalcemia is increased when used along side zedcal.
- Corticosteroids: Reduces calcium absorption.
- Tetracyclines/fluoroquinolones: Administer 2–6 hours apart because of chelation.
- Bisphosphonates/sodium fluoride: Take ≥3 hours before Zedcal.
- Cardiac glycosides: Hypercalcemia may increase toxicity thus monitoring is required when used together with zedcal.
- Food/medicine containing iron interfere with aborption of calcium.
- Certain food containing certain fibres and oxalates may interfere with calcium absorption.
